3D Printed Domino Set
Dominoes that store inside a giant domino case!
Intro
Small dominoes, inside a big domino, what is there to not like about it?
Concept Origin
This was a pretty simple project prompt. Following on the success of the 3D printed Chess set, I figured it would make sense to do a few other common games. The simplest form of the idea here was to make the game pieces fit inside a larger version of the game piece.
Design & Development
The Development of this one was nothing to write home about. It's a bunch of rectangles with some Pips in them. (that's what the dots are called) They're designed after "Professional" Grade dominoes which are 2" x 1" who knew that was a thing, so the full sized "big" Domino is 8"x4"
Prototype & Build
The CAD for this project was tedious because I had to manage the amount of Pips on ALL of the dominoes I opted to make a fully dense domino (all possible pips), duplicate it the necessary number of times, and then delete face on the pips that weren't needed. It's probably not the most efficient way to do it but this was a quick project.
For the Case, I made a simple hollow section in the Large domino, split it up so the face could slide off, and added some dovetail features to retain the face plate. Pretty simple but works well.
Final Result
It turned out exactly like I had imagined. It's silly and perfect.
